Ilia Shumailov

Dr. Ilia Shumailov is a researcher and entrepreneur dedicated to securing the future of Artificial Intelligence. As a former Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, Ilia defined some of the most critical vulnerabilities in modern AI, including Model Collapse and energy-latency attacks known as "Sponge Examples." Recognizing that current defenses cannot scale to autonomous agents, Ilia recently left Big Tech to launch a company focused on architectural AI security. His latest work introduces systems like CaMeL, which replace heuristic defenses with structural guarantees, preventing prompt injection by strictly isolating agent control flow. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
